16 SEP 2022 · Mindy's guests Carly Boos, CLL Society Executive Director and Uterine Cancer Program Director at SHARE Cancer Support, Kitty Silverman talk about their Partnership with Bag It and valuable services and programs offered for individuals with CLL or uterine cancer. BIO ~ Carly Boos I was born and raised in the Kansas City area but relocated to San Diego in 2021. I have worked in health care-related nonprofits since 2009. I have a Master of Education in Adult Education and an MBA from the University of Kansas. After an early career in various industries, I found my calling working in health-care related nonprofits in 2009, when I joined the Continuing Medical Education Division of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), where I led teams in educational design and technology, accreditation and compliance. After nearly a decade at AAFP, I went to work for the American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics as a Senior Director of Education & Meetings prior to joining CLL Society in 2018, where I serve as Executive Director. CLL Society is an inclusive, patient-centric, physician-curated nonprofit organization that addresses the unmet needs of the chronic lymphocytic leukemia and small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL) community through patient education, advocacy, support, and research. In 2005, when Dr. Brian Koffman was diagnosed with CLL, he and his wife, Patty, sought to define and acquire the best possible care for one CLL patient: Brian. Uncovering critical, unmet needs within the CLL community, they created the non-profit CLL Society to function as a conduit, making vital support and credible, cutting-edge treatment information available to all CLL patients and their caregivers. Today, CLL Society serves tens of thousands of CLL patients and their families and caregivers, as well as the CLL medical community around the world Company / Organization Website URL: www.cllsociety.org Company or Guest LinkedIn URL: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cll-society/?viewAsMember=true Company or Guest Twitter URL: https://twitter.com/CllSociety Company / Org Facebook Page URL: https://www.facebook.com/CLLsociety Personal Bio ~ Kitty Silverman Uterine Cancer Program Director SHARE Cancer Support I was born and raised in New York City, and have a degree in English Literature from New York University. • BagIT E11: Jessica Somar - Certified Health Educator

19 AUG 2022 · Well-being across the dimension of Wellness with Jessica Somar. Mindy's talks with this month's guest, Wellness Expert Jessica Somar about the physical, emotional, social, environmental and financial dimensions of wellness with (or without) a cancer diagnosis. BIO ~ Jessica M. Somar Certified Health Educator - Corporate Well-Being Expert I was raised outside of Madison, WI, and despite being in AZ since 2006, I will forever be a Wisconsin girl at heart. I spent my entire childhood as a competitive gymnast. I went to college at UW - La Crosse, where I graduated with a BS in Community Health. I have held certifications in pilates/yoga (piYo), sports nutrition, Youth Mental Health First Aid and I am a certified health education specialist. My biggest pride in life is my family, my husband, son and 3 bonus (step) daughters. Being a certified health education specialist and having my bachelor’s of science in Health Education, I have spent nearly 17 years in the corporate wellness arena. I started my career as an intern at the fitness center within Motorola, which is what brought me to Arizona. From there, I had the opportunity to develop a comprehensive and robust employee wellness program for a large, nationally located department of defense contractor. It was such a unique experience, not only due to the nature of the organizations' work, but the diverse employee population. The next chapter of my career, I stepped into more of the population health space working for organizations that provided health management services to employers. This shift offered a variety of roles over the last 12 plus years. I spent time telephonic health coaching, developing worksite wellness programs, managing teams of telephonic coaches and onsite well-being coordinators, and most recently, designing well-being and engagement strategies and serving as the director of engagement for a large insurance company. Throughout this time, I also provided sales support to the teams I worked alongside with, serving as the resident wellness expert, contributing to RFPs (requests for proposals), finalist presentations and strategy sessions with new and potential clients. The range of my experience in the wellness industry, has given me broad perspective on how wellness means so many different things to different populations, as well as how to influence human behavior aiming to improve the overall quality of living for individuals. The world of wellness can be overwhelming so my role as a Certified Health Educator is to focus on evidence-based medicine and guidelines to achieve a healthy lifestyle again resulting in positive outcomes for individuals and the companies they work for. I am currently self-employed, which allows the opportunity to pick projects and engagements that align to my passions while providing me the flexibility to focus more priority and time on my family. jessica.m.somar@gmail.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/jessicamsomar/ (602) 524-5944

These modalities are purposefully used to help promote wellness and ease symptom burden to improve overall quality of life issues both during and after treatment. Betsy has served as the Co-Chair for the Patient Advocate Task Force (now Committee) at SIO from 2016-2021, and continues to sit on the Committee and Board of Trustees.
