Backbone is a podcast series that dives into the everyday struggles and thoughts of the workers that keep our country’s wheels rolling. They are the delivery people, the cooks, the custodians, and many more. Without them, our world is gloomier and more panic stricken than it already is.
This series is created by University of Pittsburgh Humanities Media Fellow, Jacqui Sieber.
Jacqui was inspired by friends and family members who hold essential positions and wanted to highlight their thoughts. She hopes that this podcast will provide insight and gratitude to listeners as she interviews all fields under the “essential worker” umbrella term.

If you go on any major road or highway in the states, you are bound to see a Starbucks, Chipotle, McDonalds, and many more quick and go establishments. Even when the lockdown shut many businesses and offices down, the fast food industry stayed afloat and found ways to quickly adapt to keep up their business.
