8 MAY 2024 · Esta semana, Wilnelia Recart González, profesora asistente de biología se unió a “Al borde de todo” para hablar sobre infancia en Puerto Rico y como la misma inspiró una fascinación por la naturaleza. Además, explicó que observar de cerca las plantas o las flores puede decirnos mucho sobre el mundo que nos rodea. También habló sobre cómo el cambio climático afecta a las plantas, y cómo afecta el tipo de flores y vegetación que vemos alrededor de nuestros hogares, e incluso cómo afecta los alimentos que consumimos.

8 MAY 2024 · This week, “At the Edge of It All” was joined by Wilnelia Recart González, assistant professor of biology, whose childhood in Puerto Rico inspired a life-long fascination with nature. She explained how taking a close look at plants or flowers can tell us so much about the world around us. She also talked about how climate change affects plants, and how that impacts what kinds of flowers and vegetation we see around our homes and when, and even how it impacts the food we eat.

1 MAY 2024 · In Dean Robert Schapiro’s family, Supreme Court cases and philosophical questions made for dinner conversation. Today, he leads USD’s School of Law. Schapiro joined “At the Edge of It All” to talk about his upbringing in a family of lawyers and how he got into law, his time clerking at the U.S. Supreme Court, and what interests him as a lawyer and an educator.

24 APR 2024 · "At the Edge of it All" was joined by Andrew Biros, Associate Director of Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship at USD's Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies. He talked about his path into the social innovation and entrepreneurship field and the importance of social innovation in today's society, especially with the increasing use of artificial intelligence. He also spoke about the Fowler Global Social Innovation Challenge, a popular international student competition which takes place this year on May 4, 2024 at USD. 

17 APR 2024 · En las carreras competitivas, hay quienes ganan y otros que se quedan cortos, entonces, ¿cómo se mide el éxito? Will Guarino, entrenador de cross country de USD, se unió a “Al Border de Todo” para hablar sobre la mentalidad de los corredores, tanto competidores como aficionados. Compartió su experiencia como niño que emigró a los EE. UU., así como su lucha por cuidar de su familia después de perder a ambos padres a causa del cáncer.

17 APR 2024 · In competitive running, one person wins and others come up short, so how do you measure success? Longtime USD Cross Country coach Will Guarino joined “At the Edge of It All” to talk about the mentality of runners — both competitors and amateurs. He shared his journey as a child who immigrated to the U.S., as well as his struggle to take care of his family after losing both parents to cancer. He explained how running kept him going through all the highs and the lows.

10 APR 2024 · Crisis management is about preparation. That's one of the big takeaways from our talk with Corinne Hoare, lecturer of marketing at USD, who joined "At the Edge of It All" to discuss her wide-ranging career and crisis communications. Doing your homework and having a plan in place is key, Hoare said, to being prepared for situations that threaten to upend you or your business. She talked about what it was like to work in communications at the White House, and the pressure that entailed, and what she's teaching future leaders about how to handle a crisis.

3 APR 2024 · Craig Barkacs, professor of business law, joined "At the Edge of It All" to talk about his career path, which includes everything from being a trial attorney to running for congress. Barkacs also talks about the ways in which people can have power and influence in the workplace and he provides advice for those looking to grow in their career.

27 MAR 2024 · This week, “At the Edge of It All” was joined by USD law professor Lisa Ramsey, an expert on trademark law who teaches intellectual property law classes. Ramsey talked about how trademark laws can potentially conflict with the right to freedom of expression and fair competition. She also recounted several U.S. Supreme Court cases about First Amendment challenges to trademark laws, and discussed copyright and trademark issues that may arise when artificially-intelligent computer programs are used to create text or images.

20 MAR 2024 · Brandon Moore, head coach of the University of San Diego Football program, joined "At the Edge of It All" to talk about what inspired him to play football, eventually winning a national championship in college and playing for the NFL. Moore also spoke about how he transitioned from playing football to coaching the sport, and his goals for the team here at USD.
