30 OCT 2026 · I’m always asking questions. The fun begins when you start researching for answers. Such as… I live in a forest where animals are born and transition. I know the smell. But what does human warfare smell like? Plus…they’re always trying to sell us emergency generators for the home, ummmm where’s the fuel coming from? I’m Arroe… I am a daily writer. A silent wolf. I stand on the sidelines and do nothing but watch, listen study then activate. I call it The Daily Mess. A chronological walk through an everyday world. Yes, it’s my morning writing. As a receiver of thoughts and ideas, we as people tend to throw it to the side and deal with it later. When a subject arrives, I dig in. It’s still keeping a journal! By doing the research the picture becomes clearer. This is the Daily Mess… Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

30 OCT 2026 · THE JURY’S OUT: The Fight to Save the American Legal System (Cornell University Press; November 15, 2026), retired Judge Pierre H. Bergeron and law professor Shannon Price illuminate how assaults on the jury’s power began not long after the Constitution was signed. For centuries and in plain sight, leaders in business, politics, and the law—notably, judges and Supreme Court justices—have undermined the jury’s legitimacy and ability to dispense justice in our courtrooms. “As sacred as the jury right is in our American experience, powerful forces have intentionally crafted a judicial system that is actively hostile to jury trials,” the authors explain.Drawing on extensive research and interviews with judges, lawyers, and everyday people confronting our judicial system, THE JURY’S OUT exposes concerted efforts to nullify the American right to a trial by jury: Efficiency, the driving factor behind plea bargaining, which pressures criminal defendants to plead guilty and give up their right to trial at the expense of wrongful convictions and feeding the incarceration crisis. Elitism, expressed by Supreme Court justices, politicians, and business leaders who believe that the justice system functions better when ordinary people don’t get a say.Money, the exorbitant—often unnecessary—costs that transform jury trials into a luxury good reserved for the rich and those with nothing left to lose.Racism, sexism, and discrimination, insidious forces that thwart jury representation and effectively deny our most vulnerable citizens the right to a jury of their peers. Bergeron and Price advocate for empowering juries rather than focusing on their failures. The remarkable, true-crime tale of Dean Gillispie—who was wrongfully convicted in a jury trial and vindicated decades later by a civil jury—forms the backbone of their realistic and timely call for the jury’s revival. 30 OCT 2026 · UNITING THE STATES: Six Crucial Moments That Forged the American Miracle is the new book by Brian Kilmeade-#1 New York Times bestselling author, co host of FOX & Friends, and host of the nationally syndicated Brian Kilmeade Show. With seven New York Times bestsellers and more than 1.6 million hardcover copies sold in the US alone, Kilmeade is one of America's most trusted and widely read popular historians, and UNITING THE STATES may be his most ambitious and timely book yet.As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary in 2026, Kilmeade turns his signature page turning storytelling to the question at the heart of the American experiment: how did thirteen fractious, fiercely independent colonies become a unified nation? The answer, he argues, lies in six decisive moments-and the extraordinary individuals who rose to meet them. From John Adams risking his career and reputation to defend British soldiers at the Boston Massacre-establishing the demand for justice as an American cornerstone-to George Washington reinventing warfare against the world's most powerful military, to Thomas Jefferson doubling the size of the country with the Louisiana Purchase, to John Quincy Adams launching the nation's most wrenching moral reckoning-not as president but as a congressman-by fighting slavery, Kilmeade brings each pivotal episode to life with the narrative drive and historical rigor that has made his previous books perennial bestsellers. 29 OCT 2026 · Cary Grant and James Stewart were everything Alfred Hitchcock was not. Grant radiated charm and sophistication. Stewart embodied resilience and depth. Hitchcock-a meticulous, private man ruled by fear-found the freedom to express himself through their performances. Between 1941 and 1959, Hitchcock made eight unforgettable films with these two stars: four with Stewart-Rope (1948), Rear Window (1954), The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956), and Vertigo (1958)-and four with Grant-Suspicion (1941), Notorious (1946), To Catch a Thief (1955), and North by Northwest (1959). In those eighteen years, Grant shed his comedic persona to become a hero, Stewart transformed from boy next door to a war-hardened everyman, and Hitchcock reached the pinnacle of his craft-living his most daring, mysterious self through their performances. These relationships are key to understanding Hitchcock's creative process and the deeper layers of meaning in his iconic films. These films are more than entertainment; they are veiled confessions of Hitchcock's deepest obsessions, fears, and desires. Through Grant and Stewart, Hitchcock could experiment and vicariously love, kill, and conquer-inviting viewers to glimpse his inner world. In The Secret Hitchcock, Nat Segaloff pulls back the curtain to reveal the profound connection between Hitchcock and his art. Hitchcock's characters could do what he never dared: expose a killer, rescue a child, or solve a crime. Behind his creative partnerships with actors lay a web of secrecy that Segaloff unravels with precision, offering a fresh, compelling portrait of the Master of Suspense-and the stars who embodied his imagination and brought his darkest dreams to life. 29 OCT 2026 · In a time when we are becoming increasingly disconnected, lonely, and stuck: Caroline Barney author of CONNECTED: FROM STUCK TO THRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CHAOS (October 20, 2026), says, “Thriving lives and organizations are built on connection.” For so many of us, the chaos of life has left us feeling frozen, numb, and unable to move forward. We’ve lost track of who we are, what we’ve got to give, and the world of possibilities waiting for us. We have let life happen to us instead of connecting to all that life has for us. How can we stop standing still and bravely reach for more? How can we step into lives that make us feel whole? With warmth, humor, and the kind of honesty that makes you feel less alone, Caroline takes us on a journey to connect deeply to: WHO YOU TRULY ARE YOU — beneath the roles, the labels, and the expectations we've been carrying far too longTHE BEAUTY OF LIFE WITH OTHERS — building the kind of deep, life-giving community that sees us, cheers us on, and holds us up SOMETHING BIGGER THAN OURSELVES — the faith, wonder, and love that anchors us when nothing else will Through her own stories of struggle, loss, joy, love, and unexpected grace, Caroline shows us what it looks like to be a work in progress, and what becomes possible when we stop standing still and start reaching for the lives we long to have. As a former Advertising Managing Director and EVP, she was named to Ad Age’s 40 Under 40 and worked with organizations ranging from Fortune 500 companies to the White House. That career taught her a lot about strategy, narrative, and what makes people move. Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

29 OCT 2026 · Hawk Hill Pictures announces the acquisition of the feature film "THE ONE," an emotionally impactful holiday drama. The movie will open in theaters nationwide Nov. 5, 2026 coinciding with National Homeless Youth Awareness Month, bringing timely attention to the film's story of an 18-year-old navigating homelessness after aging out of the Chicago foster system.Filmed in Oklahoma with incentives from The Film in Oklahoma Act, "THE ONE" is directed by Lisa Arnold and produced by Erin Elizabeth Cook (who also co-stars), and Adam Ropp. It stars Martin Sheen ("The West Wing," "Apocalypse Now,"), Jana Kramer ("One Tree Hill," "Friday Night Lights"), Olivia Sanabia ("Just Add Magic," "Homestead"), and Nick Zano ("Obliterated," "Legends of Tomorrow"), and introduces Indigenous musician and actor Noah Redclay. The movie also marks the feature-film debut of Ashlyn Tomlin, daughter of Grammy Award-winning artist Chris Tomlin. When 18-year-old Hawk ages out of the Chicago foster system, he sets out to see the lighting of the country's largest Christmas tree, the One. Carrying only his guitar, he faces potential homelessness, undiagnosed PTSD, and a harsh winter alone until he crosses paths with Jefferson, a mysterious traveler, and Alexis, a runaway teenager grieving the loss of her twin sister. Together, they embark on an unexpected journey of faith, hope and healing. At its heart, "THE ONE" explores what happens when people who feel lost, misunderstood and alone unexpectedly find one another. Against the backdrop of the Christmas season, the film tackles real-world issues including homelessness, grief, young adult mental health and complicated family dynamics, while exploring questions of faith, the existence of God and what it means to find hope in difficult circumstances. The story balances its heavier themes with humor, warmth and the possibility of discovering family and connection in unexpected places."From the moment we encountered this story, we were captivated," said Jen Katzfey, President of Hawk Hill Pictures. "It is inspiring, beautifully acted, and shines an important light on a subject that deserves to be seen and heard. We couldn't be more thrilled to bring this powerful film exclusively to theaters and give audiences the opportunity to experience it on the big screen."""THE ONE"gets right to the heart of Christmas," adds Director Lisa Arnold. "It demonstrates sharing our love to all and recognizing the needs of others around us. The two stories intertwine in a beautiful, inspiring way, and helps us to see the difference that we can make in each life that we encounter!"In conjunction with the release of "THE ONE," the filmmakers have partnered with For Others, the nonprofit founded by Tomlin and his wife, Lauren, that works to raise awareness of the child welfare crisis in America and empower organizations working to address it. As part of the partnership, For Others is launching a new platform alongside the film's release to help people find meaningful ways to support children and families in the foster-care system. Visitors will be able to select their state and discover vetted foster organizations and opportunities to get involved in their communities. The partnership reflects one of the film's central themes: that everyone has a role to play in helping others find a place to belong."We're incredibly proud of Ashlyn and thrilled that she's part of "THE ONE," said Chris and Lauren Tomlin. "As her parents, it's meaningful to see her help tell a story that shines a light on children who need someone to see them, love them, and step in. That mission is close to our hearts and central to why we founded For Others. We hope the film moves viewers and reminds them that children in their own communities need someone to care. Each of us can stand in for a child where we live, be For Others, and help change their story."Music also plays a significant role in the film, featuring original songs including "Are You Here," written and performed by popular alt-rock band We The Kings, and "Christmastime Again" by The Imaginaries. Together, the songs extend the film's themes of faith, hope, and belonging, creating an opportunity to connect with audiences beyond the theater.
