8 JAN 2021 · Well, it was not the Buckeyes best week when it comes to the hardwood. Sunday afternoon they suffered a seventeen point loss at the hands of the ginormous Liam Robbins and the Minnesota Golden Gophers. On top of that Ohio State was set to have a get right game against the Penn State Nittany Lions but then a COVID-19 outbreak in Happy Valley shut that game down. Finally, the Buckeyes lost senior guard C.J. Walker to a hand injury that has him out indefinitely. Regardless, Matt and Mick gave their break down of the Minnesota loss, the impact of Walker’s injury, and how Liam Robbins outburst could be a sign of what is to come in Big Ten play. Ohio State does travel to Rutgers on Saturday to fast the Scarlet Knights so Matt and Mick also previewed that game. To finish up the episode Mick broke down how the Buckeyes can solve their big man problems in the 2021 class or even the transfer portal. He recapped recent recruiting trips to see 2023 point guards Lawrent Rice and Gabe Cupps. And with the Wrestling Bucks set to take the mats this both they also previewed what is to come for with wrestle offs taking place on Saturday. 3 JAN 2021 · The Buckeyes had an up and down week with a big victory over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights who were ranked #11 in the nation at the time. Matt and Mick discuss where Ohio State shined and how they took advantage of the injuries the Scarlet Knights endured and their foul trouble. After, the duo talked about the struggles Ohio State faced during their 71-70 loss to Northwestern and why the Buckeyes could not come away with a victory in Evanston. Lastly, Matt and Mick chatted about the upcoming matchup vs Nebraska and how this is a must-win game for the Buckeyes. 18 DEC 2020 · This week on episode 4 of Anything but Football, Matt Goldman flies solo this week after Mick unfortunately could not make it. This episode discusses Ohio State's lackluster performance in their first loss of the season to Purdue, 67-60. I talk about the highs and lows of both starting 5’s and how the bench players for Ohio State did not contribute as Purdue’s did which helped secure the win. Also discussed is a preview about the upcoming matchup against UCLA in the CBS Sports Classic on Saturday at 4:15 pm and how this will be a big test for the Buckeyes before they continue regular season action. 13 DEC 2020 · On this week's episode Matt and Mick discuss the Men’s Basketball team's win over Note Dame in the ACC/B1G Challenge. They give their in-depth analysis on what went wrong for the Irish and what went right for Ohio State. They also preview the upcoming matchup against Cleveland State as the Bucks look to finish undefeated in non-conference play before the Purdue game on Wednesday. 5 DEC 2020 · Well, folks, after having last week’s episode was lost during the saving process here is the second episode of the Anything but Football podcast brought to you by Buckeye Scoop. In case you didn’t know or were too busy paying attention to what has been going on with the football team the Buckeyes basketball team is off to a 3-0 start while being ranked 23rd in the AP Poll. Seeing as all three games have happened since episode one Matt and Mick gave their quick thoughts on the Buckeyes performance against Illinois State. UMass-Lowell, and Morehead State. After recapping the Buckeyes’ 3-0 start, Matt and Mick previewed Ohio State’s game against Alabama A&M coming up on Saturday night at 7 p.m. To finish up the episode Mick talked about four-star point guard Bruce Thornton’s commitment and what he saw when he watched Bowen Hardman play earlier this week. 19 NOV 2020 · Welcome everyone to the inaugural episode of the Anything but Football podcast hosted by Buckeye Scoop’s Matt Goldman and Mick Walker. Anything but Football will be your weekly dose of all things Ohio State athletics from baseball to wrestling. With the first game quickly approaching for the Ohio State men’s basketball team Matt and Mick took the first episode to preview the upcoming season. Each gave their initial thoughts of the team, their preseason superlatives, expectations for the team this season. They also went in-depth to break down both the Buckeye’s frontcourt and backcourt. Matt and Mick both gave their predictions for the first game against Illinois State then finished up the episode with some recruiting talk. They touched on Roddy Gayle Jr.’s commitment, Meechie Johnson’s reclassification, and the upcoming Mick trips has planned. We hope you enjoy the first episode and we’ll see you next week!
