25 SEP 2026 · Leaving The Cleft, Follow The Dove - Mike Blume
Moses stood in the cleft of the rock, Elijah waited in a cave, and Noah remained inside the ark while discerning what to follow. In each account, God was leading someone out of confinement and into a clearer revelation of His presence and purpose.
Noah first released the raven, but it was the dove that returned with a small olive leaf, quietly announcing that judgment had passed and new life was appearing. Elijah witnessed the dramatic wind, earthquake, and fire, yet the Lord was not revealed through those outward displays. God spoke through a still, small voice, as gentle and easily overlooked as the dove’s small beak carrying an olive leaf.
These truths culminate on the Mount of Transfiguration, where Moses and Elijah appear with Jesus. Peter wants to honour all three, but the Father redirects his attention to Christ: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” The message is unmistakable. Moses and Elijah served their purpose, but now we must hear Jesus.
This is the voice of the Spirit. It is not another divine person speaking independently of Christ, but Jesus speaking to His people by His Spirit. We must move beyond outward sensations, dramatic experiences, and the oldness of the letter to walk in the newness of the Spirit. The wind may roar, the earth may shake, and the fire may burn, but the true direction comes through hearing the voice of Jesus.
It is time to leave the cleft, follow the Dove, and hear Him.
