American Jank is a show about American video games and pop culture in general.
As a foreigner raised in a very Americanized world I put in my expertise in the exotic ways of the puzzling "American" and investigate their culture through its video games.
Sure America could never have its Nintendo, its Ubisoft, but they can try!

24 OCT 2022 · We welcome Rod Fernandez of ARF Game Studio. Rod is a Chilean-born Uruguay-based developer of Bearsus (a grizzly fighting game with bearly any controls). We talked about that, growing up as a gamer in South America, working with licensed IPs, pitching game ideas, gringos and much more.
10 OCT 2022 · In this episode we have Argentinian game developer Pablo F. Quarta on to talk about Matajuegos, a game development co-op that makes politically relevant video games like their recent release Atuel. We also discuss being a freelance developer working on bigger games and global projects.

This week's episode is a great conversation about memories of the olden days of video game journalism, media preservation and we even play the newly discovered multiplayer mode of Super Punchout. Speaking of discoveries we also find out that HBO Boxing for the PS1 is not bad!

Dave Lang has a long and impressive career in the deep trenches of cool video games I played in the 90's and 2000's and was partly responsible for bringing two of my favorite twists on the fighting genre to the public: 2013's Divekick and 2022's own Rumbleverse (Season 1 out now!). I am very fortunate to be able to call Dave an internet acquaintance and we're all very lucky he agreed to be on this episode... also this amazing conversation about The Fast and The Furious between me and Dave that has got to be the closest I ever got to letting anyone shit on Tokyo Drift.

In our first episode I welcome video producer, licensed pilot and meme emeritus, Mister Drew Scanlon. You may know him from Giant Bomb, from the Blinking White Guy meme or from his great docuseries Clothmap in which he travelled to many countries to know more about their culture especially in relation to games. We flew around in a French videogame and then in an American one to see which was the jankiest one and the answer... Might not shock you at all. I mean, look at the name of the show.
