8 NOV 2018 · Born Alfonso Miguel Illan, July 19, 1989 in the city of Santa Ana CA. Son to a Mexican father Alfonso Illan Parra, and mother Meecah Aimee Sutton who was from Caucasian and African American descent. Al grew up in the outskirts of the Los Angeles County, Sunland, CA, and Compton CA. Al also grew up a few years in different cities of Mexico such as Magdalena, Jal, Tepic, Nay, and Irapuato, Gua Mex.
Al an Angelino named after his father, grandfather, and great uncle. Al’s father Alfonso Illan Parra was born in Guadalajara, Jal, Mexico in 1965 as a young man he immigrated to the U.S. searching a better future. “My father is a brilliant man who came to this country to escape poverty at age twelve all on his own”. Despite all his troubles he was a very disciplined man who wanted the best for his son to educate his mind, morals, respect, and the courage to never give up, to become a gentleman no matter where he came from.
Al’s first intent to enter the film industry was for the film “Walkout” Directed by Edward James Olmos. Although Al had starred in many school plays since he was in kindergarten his first professional debut was at age of fourteen. Ever since Al was a young child he always had a huge imagination and a hunger for the art of acting, the personality and positive energy he carried was so strong that people could not help want to be a part of whatever he crafted. Throughout High School Al starred in many plays for his theatre club and then went on to college where he would commit to his major in theatre at Glendale Community College in California.
In the year of 2016 Al got casted for his first national commercial for Subway as the “it’s true” guy for the chicken parmesan campaign. In the same year of 2016 Al would go on and star in a campaign for Domino’s pizza, and Cricket Wireless, along with Buchanan’s Whisky. In 2017 Al was casted in the national commercial for Bud Light as one of the “carnales” for the campaign slogan “Turn your friends into family”.
Al began to work at the age of twelve for a butcher at a butcher shop. His grandmother Carmen Parra who raised him is the person he gives the most thanks to for influencing him to become the person he is today. When Al grew up he began to work to help and support at home with food, and expenses. Since Al was a child he began to understand that life wasn’t easy coming from the bottom. The work ethics, the great personality, the drive, and determination, the hunger, and imagination all come from the life challenges, and experiences Al has encountered throughout his life. In 2017 Al was part of the CASA 0101 theatre show “Frida Sufrida” which attracted a large audience and a full run of sold out shows.
Al is currently working on a few other projects, and is focused on his career more than ever, despite all other outcomes there is no stopping for Al to continue his story as an actor and storyteller.
