In the hallowed halls of Wrykyn School, Sheen, a member of Seymours House, finds himself in a precarious situation after an unexpected attack from local boys. While his friends eagerly dive into the fray, Sheens absence leads to whispers of cowardice, branding him as someone who funked it. In a world where loyalty and honor are paramount, being cut—treated as invisible—becomes his harsh reality. However, during a later encounter with the bullies, Sheen discovers a well of courage within himself when retreat is not an option. After taking a beating, he catches the eye of Joe Bevan, a former boxing champion, who offers to mentor him. To Sheens surprise, he uncovers a talent for boxing, and a bold plan emerges to reclaim his honor by fighting for his House in the Lightweight division. But as with all great plans, unexpected twists await! Wodehouse deftly explores the theme of cowardice, infusing it with his signature wit and humor.
