Do not count your chickens before they are hatched is a timeless adage that perfectly encapsulates the life of Ukridge. Always on the brink of striking it rich, he dreams of vast fortunes before theyve even materialized. Yet, Dame Fortune is a capricious mistress, proving elusive as he navigates his ambitious ventures—like the ill-fated dog college aimed at producing a world-class cadre of trained dogs and his misguided support of Battling Billson, the gentle-hearted boxer. Nevertheless, with unwavering hope and the steadfast George Tupper by his side, Ukridge remains ever poised for his next grand endeavor. Originally published as a collection of short stories, this tale is a delightful journey of dreams, schemes, and the unpredictable nature of success.
