27 JUN 2026 · In September 2021, a fire suppression system activation at the Red Bee Media broadcast center caused significant disruptions for several UK television networks. Major broadcasters such as Channel 4, Channel 5, and S4C experienced immediate outages, with some services remaining offline for weeks as engineers worked to rebuild damaged technical infrastructure. During this recovery phase, 4Music was forced to simulcast sister stations like The Box and Box Hits before eventually returning with a limited schedule. While most channels were restored within days, the full repair of automated processes and accessibility features like subtitles took much longer. The restoration process for all music channels concluded in mid-November, with the final technical fixes for other major networks completed by the end of November 2021.

The successor, Unwind with ITV, shifts the focus away from information, instead offering viewers calming nature visuals and ambient music intended for relaxation. This transition represents a modernization of ITV’s overnight filler content, moving from a digital teletext aesthetic to a more atmospheric experience.
