Set against the vibrant backdrop of 18th century Bath—a town renowned for its fashion and indulgence—Rivals unfolds a delightful tale of love and deception. At its heart are young lovers Lydia and Jack. Inspired by the romantic novels of her time, Lydia yearns for an adventurous love affair. To win her heart, Jack masquerades as the impoverished Ensign Beverley, igniting her fantasies of elopement despite the disapproval of her guardian, the comically misguided Mrs. Malaprop. Known for her humorous malapropisms, Mrs. Malaprop is a source of endless entertainment, while Lydias other suitors, the bumbling Bob Acres and the fiery Sir Lucius OTrigger, add further twists to the story. Meanwhile, Sir Lucius employs Lydias maid, Lucy, to deliver love notes, unaware that Delia is actually the guardian herself. Join us for this comedic romp filled with misunderstandings and romantic entanglements. (Summary by Wikipedia)
