The beach is renowned for two things, one for its black sand and other for being haunted! It is said that Dumas Beach was once used as a Hindu burial ground and hence is possessed by several haunting spirits that never left the region. • Episode 9 - प्रेत Ancient Ram Inn London

30 JUN 2020 · Built in 1145, the Ancient Ram Inn is a former priest's residence, inn and public house; it is also the oldest building in England's Wotton-Under-Edge. Long before the building's construction, its story begins in the low-lying wetlands near Potter's Pond. This land sits on the intersection of 2 Ley Lines, areas that certain people believe contain significantly high spiritual energy. Using a map, these lines can be traced directly to England's most famous sacred site, Stonehenge. Legend has it that the energy from Stonehenge travels the Ley Lines to feed the property's paranormal power. Additionally, the site is home to a 5,000-year-old Pagan burial ground. The building first housed masons, slaves and workers who were constructing St. Mary's Church. Located directly across the street from the Ancient Ram Inn, streams on the inn's grounds had to be diverted around the church's site. Many believe the redirecting of water on the Ancient Ram Inn site opened up a portal for dark energy. One of the most well-known legends surrounding this haunted English house is that of a witch who was burned at the stake. The burning occurred in the 1500s at the height of prosecutions against those who did not practice government-sanctioned Christianity. Many believe this woman's spirit still haunts one of the Ancient Ram Inn's rooms because she took refuge there shortly before she was captured and killed. Today this room is called the "The Witch's Room." Sole Occupant In the late 1960s, a man named John Humphries protected the building and its story by bravely making the Ancient Ram Inn his home. John bought the house in 1968, and he was introduced to the angry ghosts his first night in his new home. After going to sleep, he claims a demonic force grabbed his arm and dragged him out of bed and across the room. John Humphries is now in his 80s and is the only living occupant of the Ancient Ram Inn. He has dedicated the later years of his life to preserving this old building, and it's cost him nearly everything. His wife and 3 daughters left this haunted old building and the man hell bent on safeguarding it. Inside his home, Humphries has found evidence of ritual sacrifice and Devil worship. Even more disturbing, he discovered the skeletal remains of children under the staircase. Within the skeletons were found broken daggers, which he believes were used in a deadly ritual and then broken, so that they could never be used again. John Humphries claims that he continues to be haunted and attacked by the violent entities residing in the Ancient Ram Inn. Join the Ghost Adventures crew as they endure a dangerous and frightening lockdown in one of England's most haunted buildings. A night at Ancient Ram Inn will haunt them for the rest of their lives.

2 JUN 2020 · Grandfather clock donated by Helen's family Research provided by Associate Professor of History Bethany Keenan. In 1918, a young woman passed away just three weeks after beginning her education at Coe. It’s now been 100 years and some are convinced her spirit never left campus. Helen Esther Roberts, the Voorhees ghost, was a first-year student from Strawberry Point, Iowa. She fell victim to the Spanish Flu epidemic — her ghost story includes both a history of Coe and things that go bump in the middle of the night. On Oct. 9, 1918, with 200 cases, it was clear the epidemic had arrived in the area. The following day the number of cases tripled and Cedar Rapids found itself forced to close schools, churches and public meeting areas. On Oct. 19, 1918, Coe announced that eighteen-year-old Helen Roberts died of Spanish influenza-induced pneumonia. The flu epidemic continued for several weeks and by Oct. 24 there were a reported 2,375 cases throughout the city. Helen was laid to rest in Strawberry Point with Coe professor Dr. Charles T. Hickok and his wife in attendance. In an effort to preserve Helen’s memory, her parents donated a handsome grandfather clock to Voorhees dormitory. They also endowed a scholarship in her name which continues to be awarded 100 years later. It is difficult to pinpoint when Helen’s legacy transitioned from tragic death to ghost story but by the seventies, Helen was a permanent fixture on campus. Encounters with Helen include sightings of a figure or feeling a cold breeze near the clock and phone calls received with a weak unknown girl’s voice on the other end. Voorhees women report being locked out their rooms, electrical items that turn on and off unexpectedly and pictures falling from the walls. It is rumored that Helen does not approve of gentlemen visitors in the women’s dorms, and she is not afraid to let them know. The women of Helen’s sorority, Delta Delta Delta, appear to suffer more sightings than others. Although Helen’s actions are unnerving they’re never mean or vindictive as she is a friendly ghost. The biggest discrepancy is the location of her death. While all agree she died in Voorhees, the exact location is unknown. Research indicates that Helen died on the second floor, which was used as an infirmary during the Spanish influenza epidemic. With the context of Helen’s death removed, what remains is the story of a young woman cheated out of her college experience. Perhaps this explains her varied attempts at pranks with Voorhees residents and her Tri-Delt sisters. So on this 100th anniversary of Helen’s passing, take time to reminisce on your Coe experience — the experience that Helen never had. And if you happen to see or hear from Helen, give her a warm Kohawk welcome.

  • Episode 3 - प्रेत

20 MAY 2020 · The St. Augustine Lighthouse is poised over the city like a watchman, conflicting for attention with the full moon and its ghastly afterglow. A cluster of stars shimmers over the inlet, casting a rigid glare behind the old ship sitting stagnant in the deep water. I look up and see the soaring tower of the stately lighthouse and its gleaming beacon of light, shining like the brightest star in the sky. The Old Spanish Watchtower to Florida’s First Lighthouse: Lightkeepers Log October 15, 1874, William Russell: “Light successfully exhibited in new tower” The precursor to present-day St. Augustine Lighthouse was a Spanish watchtower built in the late 1500’s. As the oldest, permanent aid to navigation in North America, an array of wooden watchtowers matured into Florida’s first lighthouse. Construction began in 1871, and by October 1874, the hand-blown Fresnel lens from Paris was lit by head keeper, William Russel, as the new beacon of light over the oldest city. Ascending a full 165 feet above sea-level, this unique black and white banded, red-lanterned topped, 219 step, Atlantic Seafaring lighthouse has an original Fresnel lens consisting of 370 hand-cut glass prisms arranged in a beehive shape that stands 12 feet tall, and 6 feet in diameter. With a spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean and the coastal waterways of the city, the St. Augustine Lighthouse beacon sweeps 17 miles toward the horizon, leaving the “front porch light” on for the oldest city. Each lighthouse on the east coast of the United States has a singularity in appearance and lighting characteristic or “nightmark.” Sailors used their uniqueness as a landmark of location and distance to shore. Originally operating as “a flash every three minutes when a big bull’s eye [lens] lines up between the lamp and the human eye”, the St. Augustine Lighthouse currently has a fixed white flash every 30 seconds.
