27 MAR 2015 · I have a deep appreciation for the stranger things in life...so of course I am a fan of psychedelic music.
tonight, I have curated some symphonic acid trips. some new, some old. most you've never even heard of.
(edit: by the by.. unfortunately, a lot of these tunes' performers names aren't showing up in the files, and SO MANY of the artists here are worthy of further listening & research.. so here is the full song list.
2. "Desert Song" by Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros. viiiiiibessssss. man.
3. "Double Visions" by Mini Mansions, from their newest, album-of-the-year-contender, The Great Pretenders
4. "Tide" by Octopus, a very little known English band that got lost in the shuffle in the late 1960s.
5. obviously The Doors.
6. "The Captain's Fat Theresa Shoes" by The G.T.O.s, the groupie group Mr Frank Zappa discovered, all of whom I adore.
7. "He Needs Me", written by Harry Nilsson, from the 1980 Popeye soundtrack.
8. "Find Yourself" by Jacco Gardner, the brilliantly insane Dutchman…this is off his newest record, Hynophobia, out in May. also, check out his earlier release Cabinet of Curiosities.
9. "The Horror" by Spacehog, from The Craft soundtrack. this band got a raw deal. they were wonderfully bizarre and wrote some truly cool rockers at a time when that wasn't MTV-worthy.
