South Africa are the defending champions, while Nigeria have a record nine titles. Piers is at the tournament and he looks ahead for us.

We speak to Yaw Yeboah, the Ghanaian winger who’s at the Club World Cup with Los Angeles FC, in an interview from our archive during the 2020 lockdown. Yeboah talked about the things that matter most.
Also we have Stuart on the death of Uriah Rennie, the first black referee to officiate in the English Premier League.
13 JUN 2025 · This week we focusing on the expanded Fifa Club World Cup, which kicks off on Saturday in the USA with 32 teams taking part, including four from Africa – Al Ahly, Mamelodi Sundowns, Esperance and Wydad Casablanca.
We look at the innovations at the tournament, what it means for Africa, and the chances of the African teams, and we hear from Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso.
Also we talk about Senegal’s friendly win over England.
6 JUN 2025 · This week we look back at the Caf Champions League, with Pyramids of Egypt the champions of Africa for the first time.
We also talk about the Uefa Champions League final and ask whether PSG's Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakmi is the leading contender for the African Footballer of the Year award.
And Stuart looks back and analyses the competition.
Also we head to Angola – the nation that rose highest on the world rankings last year, and we hear from coach Pedro Goncalves.
29 MAY 2025 · This week we look ahead to the second leg of the CAF Champions League final, with Pyramids of Egypt holding the advantage.
We also talk about RS Berkane of Morocco, the CAF Confederation Cup champions for a third time in six seasons.
We focus on football in Somalia, as legends Samuel Eto’o, Jay-Jay Okocha and Emmanuel Adebayor were in Mogadishu this week to support Somalia’s campaign to host international football matches on home soil for the first time in more than 30 years.

22 MAY 2025 · This week we look ahead to the Caf Champions League final, with Mamelodi Sundowns hosting Pyramids in the first leg this Saturday.
We pay tribute to the late Emmanuel Kunde, a key player in the 1990 Cameroon side that became the first African team to reach the World Cup quarter-finals.
Also we pick out a few of the top Africans in the EPL this season, including Mohamed Salah, Bryan Mbeumo, and Ahmad Diallo.

Also we take look at the five new CAF vice-presidents recently named by Patrice Motsepe, one of them a controversial choice, Pierre-Alain Mounguengui, who’s been under investigation in a scandal in football in Gabon.
