Honestly, Though

  • Episode 128 | Why Should We Trust The Bible? | Guest: Dr. Susan Lim

22 APR 2024 · Have you ever wondered how the Bible came to be? How did we end up with the books that we have and who made that decision? Are all of the stories true? Should we take every book of the Bible literally? Dr. Susan Lim, historian, and professor at Biola University, sits down with Rebecca Carrell, Nika Spaulding, and Liz Rodriguez to discuss how knowing the history of the Scriptures can fortify our faith. Susan Lim is a former professor who spent over 20 years teaching in higher education.  She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in history (B.A. from UC Berkeley and M.A. and PhD from UCLA) and spent several decades researching the Puritans and colonial religion in North America at large.  But she is now venturing into new territory by researching the history of the Bible.  Still a historian at heart, she desires to devote her second career to studying the making and revelation of Scripture. She is passionate about God, her family, friends, good food, and napping.  Connect with Dr. Lim on https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677966148; Purchase Light of the Word: How Knowing the History of the Bible Illuminates Our Faith https://www.ivpress.com/light-of-the-word.  We love hugs! 25 MAR 2024 · Author and Pastor Brian Zahnd walked a five-hundred-mile pilgrimage from France to Spain, examining crucifixes and meditating on what he saw. Five years later, he put pen to paper to discuss a kaleidoscopic view of the cross of Christ and what we miss in our modern-day understanding of Jesus's death, resurrection, and ascension .
