Set against the backdrop of early 1900s or late 1890s upstate New York, Heron Nest unfolds the poignant tale of the Herron family. At the heart of this inspiring family drama is Billy, the brave and inventive older brother, who, despite his disabilities, leads his younger siblings through hardship during a challenging economic depression before the Great Depression of the 1930s. With charm and resilience, they escape the confines of tenements and cultivate a modest yet fulfilling life in the countryside, reminiscent of the Waltons. The story is rich with gardening tips and imbued with heartwarming moments, though it does contain a minor subplot that treads on delicate themes. Ultimately, its a testament to perseverance and the spirit of the get-er-dun generation. - Summary by BellonaTimes
