My name is Davey, and I have always been interested in writing/being a writer. I have decided to dive in with this website and blog to get started.
Please enjoy my collection of short stories. Equally, I hope you find some joy in my personal blog, where I reflect on my journey, mental health and the world around me.
I have just started writing from scratch and welcome all feedback via the feedback section on this site.
All I want is to write. If even a handful of people read my work and get a small amount of joy from it, I will be happy.
The podcast series accompanying the website will provide an audio version of selected blog posts, short stories and conversations with friends or family on some of the subjects I touch on in my work.

21 DEC 2023 · A Christmas present to my family. A short story that explores what my late sister may say to us this festive season.
25 OCT 2023 · In the heart-pounding moments before facing an auditorium of judgment, Stewart grapples with a paralyzing imposter syndrome. Haunted by self-doubt, he questions his ability to deliver a speech on a topic he knows intimately. Amidst the chaos of his racing thoughts, an unexpected encounter with his fearless friend, Mary, sets the stage for a transformation. In this high-stakes tale of fear, friendship, and public speaking, Stewart must confront his worst fears and emerge from the shadows of self-doubt to find his voice on the spotlighted stage.
15 OCT 2023 · Goolop just wants to prove that monsters can make a valuable contirbution to human society. Will he be able to get his foot in the door without showing his true colours?
26 AUG 2023 · This is the first of a few different short story ideas I have on the go that form a series called ‘Final Moments – These stories are about something coming to an end, which doesn’t necessarily have to mean death and sadness. It can also be about great change, even if it is bittersweet.
Today, I want to read a story titled ‘Radio Silence’ – A Sci-Fi tale about Operator Luka onboard the Monitoring Station F-97. After two years of living out a repetitive life onboard the station, Luka looks forward to returning to Earth.
Feeling unaccomplished and unsatisfied by what was supposed to be the adventure of a lifetime. The lack of excitement onboard has left Luka wondering if they were wrong to pursue a career in space.
Whilst they have all but given up on there being any excitement. Luka’s Final Moments as a Monitoring Station Operator may contain a few surprises.

11 AUG 2023 · Last time on the podcast, I shared a blog post that reflected on a sci-fi novel I wrote in high school. One that has unfortunately been lost to time but still was a flash point for an interest in writing that has revisited me at various stages over my life.
I planned to share a new sci-fi short story I have been working on this week. But given it has been such a long time since I have done any creative writing, I don’t feel it is quite ready. Yet.
Instead, I would like to share a blog post I posted on the 6th of August, 2023, about a recent life milestone. I am still discovering my ‘writing style’. So I would be very interested in getting feedback on how it makes you feel.
So please enjoy this piece titled “Big Steps, Little Problems.”
31 JUL 2023 · From a blog posted on https://www.daveywrites.com on the 29th June 2023. This is me sitting down and writing about nothing in an attempt to sooth an anxious mind.
Please enjoy this audio recording where I recount my attempts to write a scifi novel in high school on a small electronic typewriter.
