  • Metal Roofing 9:8:21 2.26 PM

8 OCT 2021 · Hi! I’m Gail Nobles. The last time I talked about house building. Today I want to talk about metal roofing. It is true that if you have a simple roof with few or no valleys, metal panels can be cheaper and faster to install. I have a valley on my roof, and it was a bit challenging to do. Just try to get the same metal for your whole roof. For my valley, there was a cheaper and thinner metal put on my roof. There was also a leak in the long run. Roof coating had to be applied to the thinner metal to stop the leak, and dents and holes had to be covered. Sometimes nails may need coating too. It is better to have a metal roof. You don’t have to worry about replacing shingles. A metal roof can last you a number of years. When you buy the metal, it is already painted. If it does rust which it shouldn’t for a long time, you can repaint it with paint made for metal roofs. Painted metal roofs come with a baked on factory finish. Some people want to know if you can put a metal roof over an existing shingle roof. Yes you can. So if you’re tired of replacing shingles, you might want to think about metal roofing. It will cost much higher than the cost of a roof with shingles, but it will be worth it.

1 SEP 2021 · Sound effects: soundbible.com Usage: Public Domain Today I want to talk about house building. At one time, I wanted a career in it. If you can get with a devoted group of workers, you can probably do well, and it can become a career or a job. You can make great money in it. You can build a home, market it, and sell it. There is a lot you can do. People will always need a home, and homes are always getting built. Sometimes I think about house designing. Working with mortar, brick, wood, and actually just building a house can be hard work. A lot of work, but it’s also exciting. I like to watch the guys build a house from the foundation up. I love how they stick frame the roofs and how they cut and install the rafters and ceiling joints. It’s good to see how things are done. When the guys build, I like to take pictures to look back on how things were done. You can really learn a lot from hardworking people, and when the job is done right. It’s also fun to watch the guys work on existing buildings and to see them make repairs. I’m Gail Nobles. Today’s topic: House building. There will be more to come.
