Centuries Apart transports listeners to a captivating world where a band of Civil War Union soldiers, under the orders of President Lincoln, embarks on a remarkable journey through time to a quasi-medieval England nestled in the heart of Antarctica. This enigmatic land, known as South England, has remained isolated from the rest of England since the 1500s, with its own unique culture and history. Just south lies New France, populated by descendants of 16th Century French settlers. Based on the journals of one of the officers, the narrative paints a vivid picture of a large island resembling a squat British Isles, where the ruling monarchy, descended from the Plantagenets, is facing its own struggles. The social and political landscape echoes the satirical tones of Mark Twains A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthurs Court, rife with romance and discord that ultimately lead to inevitable disaster. For those intrigued, the original text includes two maps—one at the front and another after page 12—that enhance the listening experience.
