31 MAY 2026 · The City That Dreamed People Season 1 – Episode 1
The City Stops Dreaming
Opening Narration
Nobody knew the truth. Nobody knew where people came from. Some believed the gods created humanity. Others believed humans evolved through time. But reality was far stranger. Every person in the world was once a dream. And every dream belonged to a city.
Scene 1: Another Ordinary Morning The massive city of Lumora stretched endlessly across the horizon. Towering buildings pierced the clouds. Bridges connected floating districts. Golden lights illuminated the streets even during daylight. Among the millions of residents was a seventeen-year-old delivery boy named Aro. Like every morning, he rushed through the crowded streets carrying packages. "You're late again!" shouted a shopkeeper. Aro laughed. "Then it's a normal day." The people around him smiled. Life was simple. Predictable. Safe. At least that's what Aro believed.
Scene 2: The Strange Voice That evening Aro finished his deliveries and sat alone on a rooftop overlooking Lumora. The city sparkled beneath the stars. A cool breeze moved through the streets. Then something strange happened. The lights across the city flickered. Just once. Then again. And again. Aro stood up. "What was that?" Suddenly a voice echoed inside his head. Soft. Ancient. Female. It seemed to come from everywhere. From the roads. The buildings. The sky itself. "Aro..." His heart skipped a beat. He looked around. Nobody was there. "Who's there?" The voice returned. "I am tired." Aro felt chills run down his spine. "What do you mean?" Silence. Then came words that would change everything. "I don't want to dream you anymore."
Scene 3: The Forgotten Customer The next morning Aro visited a bakery where he delivered bread every day. The owner stared at him blankly. "Can I help you?" Aro laughed. "Very funny." The baker didn't smile. "Do I know you?" Aro's stomach tightened. "Mr. Harlan, I've worked here for three years." The baker frowned. "I've never seen you before." Aro froze. A customer nearby turned around. She also looked confused. Nobody recognized him. Not one person.
Scene 4: The Missing Photograph Disturbed, Aro rushed home. He searched through old family photographs. His hands trembled. Every photo still existed. But wherever he should have appeared... There was empty space. An empty chair. An empty street. An empty room. His image had vanished. As if he had never been there. "What is happening?" Then he found his birth certificate. The paper was blank. No name. No date. Nothing. Aro collapsed into a chair. For the first time in his life, fear overwhelmed him.
Scene 5: The Girl in the Alley That night Aro wandered through the city unable to think clearly. Rain began falling. The streets became empty. As he passed through a narrow alleyway, he heard a voice. "You heard her, didn't you?" Aro turned instantly. A girl stood beneath a broken streetlamp. Silver hair. Black coat. Golden eyes. She looked about his age. "Who are you?" The girl ignored the question. "You heard Lumora." Aro's blood ran cold. "How do you know that name?" The girl stepped forward. "Because cities talk to me too." "What are you talking about?" She sighed. "The city is stopping its dream." Aro shook his head. "You're crazy." The girl's expression darkened. "No." She pointed toward his arm. Aro looked down. A small portion of his hand had become transparent. His fingers were slowly disappearing.
Scene 6: The Truth Aro stared in horror. The rain could be seen through his skin. "What is happening to me?!" The girl spoke quietly. "You're being erased." Aro stumbled backward. "No." "Every human belongs to a city." "What?" "When a city dreams you, you exist." The girl's eyes filled with sadness. "When it stops dreaming..." She paused. "...you disappear." The world suddenly felt unreal. The buildings. The streets. The people. Everything he believed was a lie. "Who are you?" The girl finally answered. "My name is Nia." She looked toward the glowing skyline of Lumora. "And I've already died once." Lightning flashed across the sky. For a brief moment, every building in the city seemed alive. Watching. Listening. Thinking.
Scene 7: The Awakening Deep beneath Lumora... Far below the streets... Far below the foundations... Something enormous opened its eyes. A creature older than history. Older than humanity. Older than memory itself. Millions of glowing symbols illuminated underground tunnels. Ancient machinery began moving. For the first time in thousands of years... The city itself was waking up. Ending Narration Aro had always believed he was human. Now he wasn't even sure he was real. The city that created him had begun forgetting him. And somewhere beneath the streets... Something had started to awaken. Something that should never have opened its eyes.
