Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of British angling with Anglers Hours, a delightful classic penned by the passionate fly fisherman Hugh Tempest Sheringham. This book beautifully captures the spirit of the sport, blending humor and warmth as Sheringham reflects on the joys of fly fishing—“...while there are trout, life is worth living...” He also delves into the charm of coarse fishing, exploring species like grayling, dace, and chub. A highlight is a captivating chapter on the Japanese tenkara method, which finds its place in the English landscape. With a writing style reminiscent of beloved authors like B.B. (Denys Watkins-Pitchford) and infused with the wit of P.G. Wodehouse, Sheringham invites readers to savor the simple pleasures of angling. From the thrill of browsing tackle shops on a sunny April afternoon to the comfort of a warm pot of tea at day’s end, his words resonate deeply with every fishing enthusiast. As a former angling editor for The Field, Sheringhams expertise and engaging narrative make this book an indispensable read for anyone who cherishes the art of fishing. - Summary by Adrian Praetzellis
