In April 1915, M. Maura, O.S.B., Prioress, entrusted Dame M. Columban with the task of chronicling the harrowing experiences of the Community during the tumultuous times following the German occupation of Ypres. This poignant narrative, drawn from the personal notes of several nuns, offers a truthful and heartfelt account of their journey from the destruction of their beloved Abbey‚established in 1665 and cherished by the daughters of Irish nobility‚to their eventual evacuation, aided by The Royal Munster Fusiliers, to the safety of Kylemore Abbey in Connemara, Ireland in 1920. Join us as we explore a remarkable tale of resilience, faith, and the spirit of community in the face of war.
