And states are beginning to weaken their child labor restrictions, just 8 decades after the U.S. government took kids out of the workforce entirely. A shortage of bilingual teachers is threatening the goal of having a multilingual California. And speaking of California, more prisoners in the Golden State are requesting gender-affirming health care, including surgeries and procedures.
