"Wishes" by Mary Graham Bonner follows a spirited gingham dress who longs to be a glamorous party frock — until a fairy grants her wish. Transformed overnight in a grand children's store after closing, she finds herself surrounded by snobbish silks and satins who look down on her muddy-knees past. Excluded and lonely at a world of stiff elegance, she begins to wonder whether getting exactly what you wished for is truly what you wanted all along.
