Proverbs 2:9“Then you will understand righteousness and justice in every circumstance, and integrity and every good path.”“Are we there yet?”If you’ve ever taken a road trip with children, you’ve felt that question in your nervous system.When our kids were young, we traveled across the country while I preached the gospel. We played games, sang songs, counted cars—anything to keep some peace in that back seat.Because I was trying to get to the next city to preach the gospel without losing my religion before I got there!“Are we there yet?”A hundred times.Kids don’t care how many miles are left. They want to know when.Truth is, grown souls ask the same question.When am I going to stop struggling with this?When will doing right start feeling natural?When will I become the person I keep praying to be?Listen to Proverbs two nine from the Amplified version:“Then you will understand righteousness and justice in every circumstance, and integrity and every good path.”Did you hear the first word?Then.Then means wisdom is taking you somewhere.But this Proverb doesn’t give us some magic “then” hanging in midair. Before the then, the chapter stacks up a whole row of ifs: receive wisdom, treasure instruction, listen, ask and search for it like silver.This isn’t about earning God’s love. You’re already deeply loved by God.This is about formation.Practice changes what your soul recognizes.That’s the question coming from the back seat of my soul. My immature soul is asking my hands, “Are we there yet? Can we do right without being reminded?”It’s asking my feet, “Are we there yet? Can we recognize the good path before we take another detour?”It’s asking my heart, “Justice in every circumstance—or only when it’s convenient?”Proverbs says there is a then—a place where righteousness, justice and integrity become more than rules posted on the dashboard.They become the road you know.Not perfection.Formation.Grace doesn’t cancel the journey. Grace keeps teaching us how to travel.Every faithful if becomes another mile marker:Receive.Treasure.Listen.Ask.Search.And one day, wisdom answers the question:WHEN??THEN!!🔥 REMEMBERFaithful practice keeps carrying your soul from “when” toward “then.”🙏🏽 PRAYERGod, form my instincts until wisdom becomes my natural path.🎯 TODAY’S CHALLENGERead Proverbs two one through nine.
