Proverbs 8:12:“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.”Today’s Episode: What Wisdom SeesGoogle’s first name was…you ready for this? BackRub. That’s right. We almost ended up “back-rubbing” for info on that new restaurant! Yeah, I’m glad they changed that name too.Larry Page and Sergey Brin built it from their Stanford dorm rooms, using links between webpages to help people quickly find information. BackRub eventually became Google.Their mission? “To organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”They built something enormous around helping people find what they were looking for.Now listen to Lady Wisdom in Proverbs 8:12“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.”That’s the ESV. Lady Wisdom invites us to learn from her. She finds knowledge, and she keeps prudence close. That pairing matters. Before we ever had a search bar, wisdom was teaching us how to find…and more important how to handle what we find.Nowadays I can find a thousand answers and still avoid the one question I need to ask myself.“Why am I so determined to be right?”You can dox somebody, research their shortcomings all afternoon and never investigate your own motives. Your browser has twenty tabs open on your so-called enemy, while the door to your heart remains locked.Wisdom wants access there, too.Prudence asks, “Where’s this going?” Discretion asks, “Should I do it?” Some information needs checking. Some needs context. Some is true and still it ain’t your business to broadcast. And what am I actually doing with all this information? That’s what I love about taking this principle into our own lives. What if your family, your business, your daily rhythm had a clear mission rooted in wisdom?“Find what helps. Check what’s true. Use it with care.”Let wisdom guide the meeting. Let wisdom interrupt the gossip. Let wisdom help you ask a better question before you make a permanent decision.Google is great, but all of its resources can’t give your life a wise direction.Let Lady Wisdom in on your next search.
