Hollis, Trigeminal neuropathies causing chronic pain are often treated with anticonvulsant (Seizure) medications such as carbamazepine, gabapentin, or phenytoin. It would be best to speak directly with your neurologist who knows you best, since this is a very personalized clinical decision. Good luck!

Current patient of MS at the Tucson AZ VA. I had optic neuritis about 20 + years ago, did not have eye pain but did lose partial vision in my right eye. My vision did return after several weeks, no treatment received.
