On 8 August 1963, the Glasgow to London overnight mail train was stopped at Bridego Railway Bridge in Buckinghamshire and robbed by a gang who made off with millions in used banknotes, leaving train driver Jack Mills injured and unable to return to work. Decades of investigation and prosecution never resolved who provided the original inside intelligence about the high-value load, and the man who struck Mills was never conclusively identified. Approximately 2.3 million pounds of the stolen money has never been accounted for.

Anyone with documents or family accounts related to the 1963 investigation is asked to contact Buckinghamshire Police heritage unit or Thames Valley Police on 101.
