"Tom Tit Tot" is an English fairy tale where a girl's lazy secret lands her in a deadly bargain with a mysterious little black creature. Married to a king who demands she spin five skeins of flax each day or face execution, she strikes a desperate deal — the creature will spin for her, but if she cannot guess its name before the month runs out, she belongs to it.
