Neurosurgeon and unlikely war hero Ryan Brenan, protagonist of Dr. Gary Simonds latest novel ‘Death’s Pale Flag’, is a man haunted by just such a view. When he begins to have experiences with the dead, Ryan’s life is upended, and he begins to question if he is loosing his mind, or if the dearly departed, who are seemingly reaching out to him, have chosen him for a reason.
