Story Transcript:

He: בוא נחזור לימים שבהם תל אביב הייתה רק בת תשעים ושש שנה.
En: Let's go back to the days when Tel Aviv was only 96 years old.

He: בימים אלו תל אביב הייתה הרבה יותר צנועה מהיום, אך מלאה באופי ובקסם.
En: In those days, Tel Aviv was much more modest than it is today, but it was full of character and charm.

He: בפינה של אחת מהרחובות, רחל, אזרחית חסונה, התעלמה מהחום של היום הלהט באמצע אוגוסט וחייכה בעברית מושלמת למרגלית, הפצאית.
En: In a corner of one of the streets, Rachel, a respectable citizen, ignored the heat of the scorching day in the middle of August and smiled in perfect Hebrew to Margalit, the server.

He: רחל יצאה מהעסק הצפוף, ישבה על ספסל הפארק הצמוד וחתכה את הפיצה שקנתה.
En: Rachel left the crowded business, sat on the adjacent park bench, and sliced the pizza she had bought.

He: אך מיהרת ממנה הבינה ששכחה לבקש לחתוך את הפיצה.
En: But she quickly realized that she forgot to ask for the pizza to be sliced.

He: לפניה התפשטה עיניין המצחיק - פיצה אחת גדולה, שלמה, ללא חתיכות.
En: In front of her, a funny sight unfolded - one large, whole pizza without slices.

He: התבטאות ההתרסהות על פניה היא החליטה - היא תאכל את הפיצה בעצמה.
En: With a touch of self-deprecating expression on her face, she decided that she would eat the pizza herself.

He: רחל החלה לאכול את הפיצה הגדולה, כלה.
En: Rachel began to eat the large pizza, all of it.

He: כולה לגמרי.
En: Completely.

He: היא מעולם לא אכלה פיצה גדולה כל כך לבדה, אך אין לה ברירה כי היא מאוד רעבה.
En: She had never eaten such a large pizza alone before, but she had no choice because she was very hungry.

He: היא תיכנסה היסטוריה כנראה כאישה הראשונה שאכלה פיצה גדולה עצמאית בתל אביב.
En: She would probably go down in history as the first woman to eat a large pizza independently in Tel Aviv.

He: רחל הופתעה לגלות שהיא מסוגלת לעשות את זה, ובחוסר הבחירה מצאה עצמה מסופקת בצורה שלא ציפתה.
En: Rachel was surprised to discover that she was capable of doing it, and in her lack of choice, she found herself satisfied in a way she didn't expect.

He: סיפורה של רחל היה לשיח של השכנים, ומאז השאירו במסעדת פיצה סכין חדה על שולי הספסל, למקרה שרחל תזמין שוב פיצה.
En: Rachel's story became a topic of conversation among the neighbors, and since then, they left a sharp knife in the restaurant on the edge of the bench, just in case Rachel would order pizza again.

He: שינוי קטן, אך חשוב לעיר.
En: A small change, but important to the city.

He: ורחל?
En: And Rachel?

He: היא מתחילה מחדש ומשתפת עם פיצה מיוחדת לעיר, בלי לחשוב פעמיים.
