Fr: Il faisait un beau matin à Paris, le soleil brillait.
En: It was a beautiful morning in Paris, the sun was shining.

Fr: Jean-Pierre marchait dans la rue.
En: Jean-Pierre was walking down the street.

Fr: Il tenait une baguette, une bouteille de vin et une meule de fromage dans ses bras.
En: He was holding a baguette, a bottle of wine, and a wheel of cheese in his arms.

Fr: Jean-Pierre venait de chez le boulanger et avait hâte de rentrer.
En: Jean-Pierre had just come from the bakery and was eager to go home.

Fr: Mais, oh non!

Fr: Il y avait un grand, grand embouteillage sur la route.
