Leslie is joined by Tom Conway, President of the United Steelworkers (USW), North America’s largest industrial union.
They’re 1.2 million members and retirees strong in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. They proudly represent men and women who work in nearly every industry there is.

The pandemic shined a light on our long-neglected supply chains, failure of our industrial policy, and the dangerous vulnerability that we created when we ceded much of our manufacturing to other nations.

There’s been a lot of hand wringing lately about the semi-conductor shortage and the ships off the coast of California and how to get them unloaded.

While these are real concerns, addressing them is just fixing the short-term problem.
What we really need is a solution that addresses the underlying issue: growth in domestic manufacturing.

The website for the USW is www.USW.org and their handle on both Twitter and Instagram is @steelworkers.
