It’s Red River Rivalry Week, and The Jenn and Rick Show is a house divided all over again. Jenn brings the Texas Longhorns perspective; Rick Robinson brings the Oklahoma Sooners loyalty, the nerves, and a strong desire to avoid saying “Hook ’em Horns” next week.
They talk through the matchup, injury concerns, turnovers, and why a stat sheet can only tell part of the story when these teams meet. The rivalry’s unpredictable energy leads into their usual bragging-rights wager, a debate about NIL and the transfer portal, and Jenn’s decades-long family tradition of tailgating, visiting the fair, and bringing Sooners and Longhorns together for the same weekend.
Then life off the field takes over. Rick recounts a family health scare and a late-night plumbing emergency, and Jenn reflects on rough weeks, grief, gratitude, and keeping perspective without pretending the hard stuff doesn’t hurt. They also discuss how much adult stress children should have to carry, and the difference between teaching responsibility and making kids worry about problems they cannot solve.
The closing stretch turns to media criticism of Pete Hegseth’s workouts with troops, Rick’s call for broader context in economic coverage, and their mixed feelings about turning executions into a public spectacle. It’s football rivalry, familiar banter, and a candid conversation about everything else that showed up this week.
Recorded October 8, 2026, before the game. Explicit language and adult themes.
