# Navigating the Push Their Luckables in Your Life > How to set boundaries with those who overstay their welcome. There's a unique group of people that many of us encounter throughout our lives, and I like to call them the **Push Their Luckables**. These are the individuals who, despite being told no or given clear signals that their presence is unwelcome, continue to push boundaries.  ## The Overstaying Neighbor Imagine this scenario: I’m hanging out with a friend when an overly enthusiastic neighbor starts showing up daily. At first, it’s manageable. You make small talk, share a laugh, but soon it becomes too much.  > "Every day for the first week, I'm hanging out with my boy, and he looks at me like, 'What the heck is this?'"   Before you know it, the neighbor is showing up six days a week, interrupting work and personal time. My friend's patience is tested as he tries to work through the chaos of this unexpected social commitment.   ## Borrowing Sugar: A Metaphor for Boundaries In my own experience, I had a neighbor who was always borrowing a cup of sugar. Initially, it seemed harmless. But as time went on, I realized that he expected me to provide sugar every time he ran out, effectively making my kitchen a secondary grocery store.  > "To him, I was sugar."   This constant borrowing blurred the lines of our relationship and left me feeling like the bad guy when I had to say no. The moment I set a boundary, his demeanor shifted — he no longer greeted me with a smile.  ## The Guilt Factor Setting boundaries often comes with feelings of guilt. Telling someone they can’t come over every day or that you won’t lend them what they can easily acquire themselves is uncomfortable. My friend faced this when he had to confront his neighbor.   > "You come here five days a week... and even though I like having you, I’m not getting any work done."   It’s a tough conversation, one that could lead to the other person feeling betrayed or hurt. But sometimes, we must prioritize our peace and productivity over someone else's feelings, even if that means being perceived as the ‘bad guy.’  ## Finding Resolution In the end, my friend learned that it's okay to assert his needs. He articulated his feelings clearly, stating that while he enjoyed their interactions, they needed to find a balance.  > "We have a talk in the hallway relationship. If we ever become really close friends, then that's different."   Setting boundaries is essential for maintaining healthy relationships. It’s not just about saying no; it’s about respecting your own time and space while navigating the feelings of others.  As you go about your day, consider the Push Their Luckables in your life. Are there boundaries you need to establish? How can you communicate your needs without guilt? Remember, it's okay to prioritize your well-being.  ---   This conversation resonates deeply in today’s fast-paced world.
