Tom MacLean has breathed some pretty rarified air. As the original bass player for the mega popular progressive rock band, Haken, Tom saw the band rise to heights not often attained. At the very crest, Tom made a change to his life that confused half of the music business and left Haken, seemingly within reach of everything a musician strives for.

Today on the show, we not only dig into Tom's backstory, but more importantly, we get to chat about his new musical endeavors, and specifically his amazing new band, Athemon.

The new release from the band will find it's way to your phones, laptops, and living room as soon as you decide to buy it. The music that starts the show today is a sampling and something that I believe will resonate in the minds of our future youth as a touchstone of influence. I'd make a bet on it.

This is my interview with the legendary instrumentalist and producer, Tom MacLean, on the Rockstar Superhero Podcast.

Fun Facts:
Until 2013, Tom was the original bassist in Haken and guitarist in To-Mera. He believes he’s one of a very small group of people to have opened for Dream Theater in two different bands.

The album as a whole explained by the band:

Full of dark and enigmatic atmospheres, the self-titled record is a 50-minute concept album divided into nine songs, which tells a story about self-awareness. The instrumental consists of two guitars, a bass, and drums that together form an ideal atmosphere for those who enjoy a deeper journey. Self-Titled Athemon is a creative album that seeks to forge the perfect alloy of darkness and beauty.

Album Credits:
