The Pig Who Tried to Speak French

Story Transcript:
Fr: C'est une belle journée dans la ferme de la famille Durand.
En: It's a beautiful day on the Durand family farm.

Fr: Le soleil brille et les animaux se réveillent joyeusement pour commencer leur journée.
En: The sun is shining and the animals are happily waking up to start their day.

Fr: Jean-Pierre le cochon se réveille dans sa petite cabane en grognant et en grattant sa tignasse rose.
En: Jean-Pierre the pig wakes up in his little cabin, growling and scratching his pink hair.

Fr: Aujourd'hui, Jean-Pierre a une tâche importante à accomplir.
En: Today, Jean-Pierre has an important task to accomplish.

Fr: Il doit dire à ses amis Amélie la vache et Adrien le coq qu'il parle couramment le français.
En: He must tell his friends Amélie the cow and Adrien the rooster that he speaks French fluently.

Fr: Il a appris quelques mots en écoutant les humains parler pendant les repas, et il est sûr qu'il les impressionnera avec sa maîtrise de la langue française.
En: He learned a few words by listening to humans talk over meals, and he's sure he'll impress them with his command of the French language.

Fr: Jean-Pierre se dirige vers la grange où se trouvent ses amis.
En: Jean-Pierre goes to the barn where his friends are.

Fr: Ils sont assis à l'intérieur et discutent entre eux.
En: They are sitting inside and talking to each other.

Fr: "Bonjour mes amis" dit Jean-Pierre en français.
En: "Hello my friends" says Jean-Pierre in French.

Fr: Amélie la vache et Adrien le coq se retournent pour voir qui a parlé, mais ils ne voient personne.
En: Amélie the cow and Adrien the rooster turn around to see who has spoken, but they see no one.

Fr: "Qui a parlé ?
En: "Who spoke ?"

Fr: " demandent-ils en regardant autour d'eux.
En: they ask looking around.

Fr: "C'est moi, Jean-Pierre le cochon" répète Jean-Pierre, en se demandant pourquoi ses amis ne comprennent pas son français parfait.
En: "It's me, Jean-Pierre the pig" repeats Jean-Pierre, wondering why his friends don't understand his perfect French.

Fr: "Tu parles français ?
En: "You speak French ?"

Fr: " demande Amélie la vache, étonnée.
En: asks Amélie the cow, astonished.

Fr: "Bien sûr" répond Jean-Pierre, en souriant fièrement.
En: "Of course" replies Jean-Pierre, smiling proudly.

Fr: "Je vais vous montrer".
En: "I will show you".

Fr: Il commence à parler en grognant et en grondant, essayant de faire semblant de parler français.
En: He begins to speak while growling and snarling, trying to pretend to speak French.

Fr: Amélie la vache et Adrien le coq s'étaient mis à rire en écoutant les grognements de Jean-Pierre.
En: Amélie the cow and Adrien the rooster had started laughing as they listened to Jean-Pierre's growls.

Fr: "Mais Jean-Pierre, tu ne parles pas français !
En: "But Jean-Pierre, you don't speak French!

Fr: Tu n'es qu'un cochon" s'exclament-ils.
En: You're just a pig" they exclaim.

Fr: Jean-Pierre est déçu.
En: Jean-Pierre is disappointed.

Fr: Il avait cru être capable de parler un langage humain, mais il semblait que cela ne soit pas destiné aux animaux.
En: He had thought he could speak a human language, but it didn't seem like it was meant for animals.

Fr: Il pense qu'il s'était ridiculisé devant ses amis.
En: He thinks he made a fool of himself in front of his friends.

Fr: Cependant, plutôt que d'être en colère, Amélie la vache et Adrien le coq se sont mis à rire avec Jean-Pierre.
En: However, rather than being angry, Amélie the cow and Adrien the rooster laughed with Jean-Pierre.

Fr: Ils trouvent cela drôle qu'il ait essayé de parler français.
En: They find it funny that he tried to speak French.

Fr: "Nous t'aimons toujours, Jean-Pierre, même si tu ne parles pas français" dit Amélie la vache en souriant.
En: "We still love you, Jean-Pierre, even if you don't speak French" said Amélie the cow smiling.

Fr: "Tu es notre ami, et c'est tout ce qui compte".
En: "You are our friend, and that's all that matters."

Fr: Jean-Pierre sourit en retour à ses amis et réalise qu'il n'avait pas besoin de parler la langue des humains pour être aimé et accepté.
En: Jean-Pierre smiles back at his friends and realizes he didn't need to speak the human language to be loved and accepted.

Fr: Cela avait été une journée drôle et instructive pour lui.
En: It had been a funny and instructive day for him.

Fr: Il avait appris que les amis les plus proches sont ceux qui vous acceptent tel que vous êtes, même si ça ne fait pas de sens.
En: He had learned that the closest friends are those who accept you for who you are, even if it doesn't make sense.

Fr: Et pour l'instant, c'est tout ce qui importait.
En: And for now, that's all that mattered.
