show moreIn this special 14-Year Celebration episode of Vigilantes Radio Live, Dini sits down with longtime friend and former collaborator Michael Piccard for one of the most personal conversations of the series.
Their story stretches back nearly two decades, beginning during the SoundClick era when Dini first discovered Michael’s music while he was still in high school. What followed became years of friendship, collaboration, membership in the 7th Sign Regime, creative work alongside artists connected to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and the formation of their musical duo, No Longer the Hero.
But their history also includes unfinished projects, missed opportunities, long periods without speaking, and questions that were never fully answered.
Michael opens up about how his mental health shaped his ambitions, fears, relationships, and ability to show up creatively. He reflects on what he describes as a decade-long depression, his experience with therapy and EMDR, and the awakening that helped him reconnect with parts of himself he thought he had lost.
The conversation also explores their shared love of music, Michael’s connection to The Beatles, his new band project The Mourning Of with Jordan McNary, and what creating from a healthier place means to him today.
At the center of the episode is their late friend and collaborator Gabriel “Poegosi” Cota, the original third member of The 3 Amigos Podcast alongside Michael and Dini. Michael also shares his rendition of “Hallelujah” as a special dedication to Gabriel.
This is a conversation about friendship after damage, understanding what was happening beneath the surface, grieving lost time, forgiveness, music, depression, healing, and discovering whether two people can move forward without pretending the difficult chapters never happened.
Sometimes understanding doesn’t erase the past.
It simply allows you to finally see it from the other person’s side.
