Story Transcript:

Uk: Жив був Іван.
En: Once upon a time, there was a man named Ivan.

Uk: Моторошно простодушний лікар закоханий у старе місто Львів.
En: He was a terribly naive doctor who had fallen in love with the old city of Lviv.

Uk: І несамовито свободолюбний.
En: He was also fiercely independent.

Uk: Терпіти йому керівників не по душі, за що втратив місце у рідному селі.
En: He did not get along well with his superiors, which caused him to lose his job in his hometown.

Uk: Тож Львів став його новим притулком.
En: So Lviv became his new refuge.

Uk: Їздить по сторонам в місті довелося йому на велосипеді.
En: To get around the city, he had to ride a bicycle.

Uk: Бувало, гуляє вулицями до глибокої ночі, та й не замічає, як легко заблукати у лабіринті вуличок Львова.
En: Sometimes he would wander the streets until late at night, not realizing how easily he could get lost in the labyrinth of Lviv's alleyways.

Uk: Одного дня, юрба весняного Львова змусила його заблукати у вуличках.
En: One day, the bustling spring crowd of Lviv forced him to lose his way in the streets.

Uk: Втомився Іван, опустився на паркову лавку.
En: Feeling tired, Ivan sat down on a park bench.

Uk: Дивиться – стоїть кіт поруч і важко муркоче.
En: He noticed a cat standing beside him, purring heavily.

Uk: Подумав Іван, а чому б не попросити кота вказати дорогу?
En: Ivan thought to himself, why not ask the cat for directions?

Uk: Всміхаючись, глянув на нього: "Ось би ти мені путь вказав, хазяїні?
En: Smiling, he looked at the cat and said, "Would you show me the way, my little master?"

Uk: "Кіт, як відповідь, пішов вперед.
En: Without a word in response, the cat began to walk ahead.

Uk: Іван вирішив йти за ним, можливо це місцевий кіт і знає місто краще за нього.
En: Ivan decided to follow him, thinking that maybe this local cat knew the city better than he did.

Uk: Проходив Іван за котом крізь вулички, площі, парки.
En: As Ivan walked behind the cat, they passed through streets, squares, and parks.

Uk: Львів був неповторний в своїй красі, яку можна відкрити лише, заблукавши.
En: Lviv was one of a kind in its beauty, which could only be discovered by getting lost.

Uk: Вони вийшли до площі Ринок, головної у місті.
En: They arrived at Rynok Square, the main square in the city.

Uk: Легко помітив Іван свої орієнтири: вежу ратуши, Час Поліції, оперу.
En: Ivan easily recognized his landmarks: the tower of the town hall, the House of Police, and the opera house.

Uk: Інтрига завершилася: Іван знайшов дорогу додому.
En: The intrigue came to an end when Ivan found his way home.

Uk: До кітка подійшов лісовод, якого Іван пізнав як старого товариша із рідного села.
En: A forester approached the cat, who Ivan recognized as an old friend from his hometown.

Uk: Виявилося, він власник кота.
En: It turned out that the forester was the cat's owner.

Uk: Іван подякував і коту, і його господарю, та відтепер завжди знав, як не заблукати у Львові.
En: Ivan thanked both the cat and his owner, and from then on, he always knew how not to get lost in Lviv.

Uk: Він зрозумів, що простодушність й свобода – це скарби, які робили його життя набагато цікавішим, навіть коли заблукана вулиця Львова ставала для нього шляхом до пригод.
En: He understood that naivety and freedom were treasures that made his life much more interesting, even when a lost street in Lviv became a path to exciting adventures.
