The Reagan Doctrine was credited with stopping Soviet aggression and expansion through support of organizations opposed to Marxist regimes. The Reagan Doctrine provided support through money, weapons, training, sabotage and covert operations. The illegal aspects of the Reagan Doctrine came to light in November 1986 when Lebanese newspaper Al Shiraa reported the illegal arms sales to Iran.
