Story Transcript:

He: "אברהם חיפש בפנקס התפריט שבפניו. מסיבו או אחרת, הוא הזמין חומוס במסעדה איטלקית מפוארת בלב תל אביב, ולא פחות מו גיבה המלצר."
En: Abraham searched through the menu in front of him. For one reason or another, he ordered hummus at a fancy Italian restaurant in the heart of Tel Aviv, much to the surprise of the waiter.

He: "חומוס? האם קראתי נכון?" מלצר צמרת מכתשית שאל בהלם, עיניו רחבות מהתמהה.
En: "Hummus? Did I read that correctly?" the bewildered waiter asked with wide eyes.

He: אברהם, בלי שום בושה, חזר על ההזמנה. "כן, חומוס. האם יש לכם חומוס כאן?" דבריכזו בוודאות, מביאים נוספת לפנים המשתוממות של המלצר.
En: Without any embarrassment, Abraham repeated his order. "Yes, hummus. Do you have hummus here?" he said with certainty, bringing an even more astonished look to the waiter's face.

He: המרענן שאלה, "אם אתה באמת רוצה חומוס, יש פה ליד מקום טוב לחומוס. אנחנו איטלקית מסעדה, אנחנו לא נותנים חומוס."
En: The waiter, taken aback, said, "If you really want hummus, there's a good hummus place nearby. We are an Italian restaurant, we don't serve hummus."

En: With an instant smile, Abraham replied, "Why can't it be Italian hummus?" His logical question was met with laughter from the other customers. Yael, Abraham's friendly companion, who was engrossed in the menu, was not surprised.

En: A customer sitting next to them tried a quip, "Abraham, you are going to make the world a better place." Indeed, an eccentric and quirky individual, Abraham smiled and said, "If hummus has a place in an Italian restaurant, I am going to surprise everyone."

He: חלף זמן קצר, השף הביא לאברהם מנה שהוא מזהה. "אז מה אני עושה, הנה לך שיפודי פולנטה במקום חומוס?" השף שאל בחיוך איטלקי אמיתי.
En: After a short while, the chef brought Abraham a dish he can recognize. "So, what do I do? Here, have some polenta skewers instead of hummus?" the chef asked with a genuine Italian smile.

En: His expression of astonishment was now precisely when Abraham was surprised by the tasty dish. It made the customers laugh again, no matter what happened, a day with Abraham was always entertaining. Even a little bit delicious.
