Chad Daybell is an American author and religious figure who gained notoriety due to his involvement in a series of events surrounding the deaths of his former wife, Tammy Daybell, and his new wife's two children, Tylee Ryan and Joshua "JJ" Vallow. He was born on August 11, 1968, in Utah, USA.


Daybell became known for his writings in the realm of religious fiction, particularly within the genre of Latter-day Saint (Mormon) literature. He authored numerous books focusing on themes related to his faith and beliefs in prophecies and the end times.


The events leading to Chad Daybell's arrest and subsequent legal proceedings began in September 2019 when authorities began investigating the disappearance of 17-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old JJ Vallow, who had been missing since September 2019. The children's mother, Lori Vallow, married Daybell weeks after the death of his former wife, Tammy Daybell, in October 2019, under suspicious circumstances. Tammy's death was initially ruled as natural causes, but it was later exhumed and re-examined as part of the investigation.

As authorities dug deeper into the case, they discovered a complex web of religious beliefs, including allegations of involvement in a doomsday cult and beliefs in spiritual visions and prophecies. The investigation also revealed a series of mysterious deaths and disappearances linked to Chad and Lori, including Tammy Daybell's death and the deaths of Lori Vallow's previous husband, Charles Vallow, and her brother, Alex Cox.

In June 2020, police discovered the remains of Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow buried on Chad Daybell's property in Salem, Idaho. Following this discovery, Chad Daybell was arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including two counts of destruction, alteration, or concealment of evidence.

His trial is set to begin On April 2nd.
