LA alternative, pop-punk rock outfit Soundhoose play a brand of music as strangely diverse as their name.
The band have been cranking out rebellious anthems for the last couple of years, broaching subjects such as mental welfare from a sincere and personal view relating to their own experiences.
After the success of their recent single Loner to go with previous singles Just A Name, Runner and Addicted, Soundhoose are turning their attention to their debut album Craniotomy, which is slated for release early next year.
Vocalist/guitarist Brandon “Mr. Bad Luck” Smith, bass player Jeremy and drummer Paul Burns joined HEAVY to chat about music and life in general.
"It's been great," Jeremy beamed. "We got a lot of positive feedback from all of our media friends and family the day that it released, and then we've had some press come out about it as well. I think the one thing that everybody is agreeing on is they love the idea of the background of the song that promotes the whole mental health aspect of what we're trying to get across to everybody and I think that song does that very well, so everyone's been pretty receptive of it, which we're happy about."
"I'm getting a lot of feedback too that this video looks super professional," Smith added, "so we're proud of that too because that's what we were aiming for, was for it to really come across like we're taking this seriously, not like some home DIY stuff."
In the full interview the boys talk more about the mental health aspect to the song, the singles released already and if they represent the album on a sonic level, Craniotomy and its musical direction, the issue of mental health in music and if it is given the respect it deserves, their blending of genres and how it works, Brandon's nickname and how he got it and more.
