show moreMany people believe change happens through criticism or pressure. But ACT teaches something different: lasting growth often begins when we learn to treat ourselves with the same kindness and understanding we would offer someone we love.
In this session, you will learn how self-compassion helps reduce shame, soften harsh self-judgment, and create the emotional safety needed for real psychological flexibility. Rather than fighting your inner experience, self-compassion allows you to acknowledge pain while still moving toward what matters.
We will also practice simple exercises you can use in everyday life, including placing a hand on your heart, speaking to yourself with kindness, and extending compassion outward through a “May I / May you” awareness walk.
These practices help cultivate a mindset of gentleness toward yourself and the world around you.
Self-compassion does not mean avoiding responsibility or lowering standards. Instead, it provides the strength and stability needed to face life honestly and continue moving toward your values.
