Hi Jim - I appreciated your thoughts on Pete du Pont but, as someone who's lived or worked in Delaware for most of the past 45 years, I'd like to share one way in which he disappointed me. I believe that Pete du Pont is one of the two people (the other being Donald Trump) responsible for making Joe Biden president.
In 1984 Pete was finishing his 2nd term as governor. Reagan was running for re-election and easily won Delaware. Who else was running for re-election in 1984? Joe Biden. It wouldn't have been a sure thing but with Reagan at the top of the ticket and given his own popularity, Pete would have had a far better shot at unseating Biden than any GOP contender who ever ran against him? How many trillions will that lost opportunity from almost 40 years ago cost us? One question for you and Greg? Is it true that the Iranian talks may founder over the ayatollahs refusal to refer to Mrs. Biden as Dr Jill Biden? Best wishes, Tom Varley
