We kick off the new year with a true Australian musical classic that deserves a lot more love than most musicals from the early '80s. Directed by Gillian Armstrong, the 1982 Starstruck follows Jo Kennedy's Jackie Mullens, a barmaid at her family's Sydney pub who dreams of becoming a rock star. Along with her teenage cousin and would-be manager Angus, played by Ross O'Donovan, she tries by any means necessary to make a name for herself in the Aussie music scene. It is a cult classic that deserves a proper reappraisal from a wider audience. Heather and Rachel program the episode and kick off the month.
Noise Junkies' Heather Drain and Rachel McPadden join Chris Stachiw, the Doctor of Podcasting, to talk Jo Kennedy, Aussie filmmaking, the fan theory ending, and so much more.
