Rutger Hauer and genre mash-ups seem very popular, don't you think? We reach the halfway point of Patreon Programmed Month, this year devoted entirely to Rutger Hauer films, with Split Second, a sci-fi horror hybrid that owes a clear debt to another Hauer classic, Blade Runner. Hauer stars as Harley Stone, a troubled detective in a flooded, dystopian London of 2008, who teams up with Neil Duncan's erudite Dick Durkin to take down a demonic serial killer, with Kim Cattrall and Alun Armstrong alongside. Whether those mash-ups work is still case by case, though.
Mark Begley of Wake Up Heavy joins Chris Stachiw, the Doctor of Podcasting, to talk Split Second, the creature design, some Blade Runner hot takes, and so much more.
