Story Transcript:

En: On a busy weekday in Oslo, Lars sat in a coffee bar during his lunch break.

Nb: Han hadde, som alltid, dårlig tid.
En: He was, as always, having a bad time.

En: Lars just wanted a cup of coffee and to get back to his office.

Nb: Men noe uventet skjedde.
En: But something unexpected happened.

En: Lars got stuck in a long queue.

En: In front of him stood a person who seemed to be very eager to order his coffee.

En: But, there was something strange about this person.

En: He tried to order his coffee in five different languages!

Nb: Det ble et språklig kaos.
En: It was linguistic chaos.

En: "Un café, por favor," he said first, implying that he was speaking Spanish.

En: The cashier looked confused and pointed to the menu.

Nb: "Vafler, ja takk," svarte mannen, denne gangen på norsk.
En: "Wafflers, yes please," replied the man, this time in Norwegian.

En: The cashier shook her head and pointed to the coffee menu again.

En: "Un espresso, per favore," said the man, trying his hand at Italian.

En: The cashier became more and more confused, and the people in the queue began to sigh and look impatient.

Nb: Mannen ga ikke opp.
En: The man did not give up.

En: "Ich hätte gerne einen Kaffee, bitte," he said in German.

En: The cashier started to look frustrated and looked towards Lars who was standing behind the man.

En: Lars didn't know what to do, but he couldn't just stand there and watch the chaos continue.

En: Gathering his courage, he said, "Just a black coffee, please."

Nb: Mannen snudde seg overrasket mot Lars.
En: The man turned to Lars in surprise.

En: "Thanks," he said with relief, turning to the cashier.

Nb: "En svart kaffe, takk."

En: The cashier nodded in relief and made the man coffee.

Nb: Han betalte og gikk videre.
En: He paid and moved on.

En: Lars smiled and felt like a hero for solving the chaos.

En: He finally ordered his cup of coffee and made his way back to the office.

En: As he sat there enjoying his coffee, he thought about how important it is to be able to communicate clearly.

En: No matter how many languages one knows, it is always important to find a common understanding.

En: This is how Lars' adventure at the coffee shop ended with a satisfying conclusion.

En: He learned a lesson and got a good cup of coffee.

En: From that day on, he knew that even in chaos you could find solutions, if you had the courage to act.

En: With the coffee cup empty and a sense of satisfaction, Lars went back to his work, ready to tackle whatever came his way.
