Join Rob McConnell as he welcomes Maurice “Mo” Miller, Lead Investigator with Black Hills Paranormal Investigations (BHPI) in Rapid City, South Dakota. Mo’s fascination with ghosts, spirits, and unexplained phenomena began at an early age, encouraged by his mother and grandmother. That childhood curiosity developed into a lifelong desire to investigate experiences that seem to fall outside conventional explanation. Today, he brings that curiosity—and a healthy degree of skepticism—to paranormal investigations throughout the historic Black Hills and surrounding regions. Founded in 2007, Black Hills Paranormal Investigations approaches reported hauntings with an emphasis on critical thinking, common sense, continuing education, and skepticism. Rather than entering a location assuming every unexplained noise or strange experience must be supernatural, Mo and his team first look for ordinary explanations. As Miller has explained publicly, something that goes bump in the night might have nothing whatsoever to do with a ghost—it could be plumbing, wildlife, environmental conditions, or something equally mundane. During this fascinating conversation, Rob and Mo explore ghosts, hauntings, EVPs, apparitions, spirit communication, paranormal equipment, and the realities of conducting an investigation. BHPI has investigated private residences as well as historic locations including the Adams House, Bullock Hotel, Homestake Opera House, Occidental Hotel, and other sites throughout the region. The team stresses professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with people who believe they may be experiencing paranormal activity in their homes or businesses. Whether you believe ghosts walk among us, think every haunting has a rational explanation, or simply love a great paranormal mystery, this episode of The ‘X’ Zone Radio Show takes you inside the world of real-life paranormal investigation. Join Rob McConnell and Maurice “Mo” Miller as they journey into the haunted history of South Dakota’s Black Hills and ask the question at the heart of every investigation: What actually happened here—and can we prove it?
